This Privacy Policy describes how A4J Global, LLC (“DAZZL,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with the DAZZL mobile app, dazzl.app, beta sign-up forms, and related support and communications (together, the “Service”).
The short version
- We collect only the information needed to provide DAZZL, personalize the experience, communicate with users, understand how features are used, and keep the Service working properly.
- We do not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
- We do not use student information to train artificial intelligence models.
- Analytics are used to understand feature use, personalize content, and help us select relevant notifications and other communications. We do not send the text of tasks, goals, journal-style entries, mood notes, reminders, or other free-form student content to analytics providers.
- Notifications and non-essential emails are optional.
- You can ask to access, correct, or delete your information at https://dazzl.app/contact-us-en.
The sections below provide additional details required by privacy laws and explain the choices available to students and parents.
1 Information we collect
The information we collect depends on the features you use.
- Account information: your name, email address, account identifier, login method, and limited profile information provided by a sign-in service with your permission.
- Information you create in DAZZL: goals, tasks, plans, reminders, focus records, questionnaire answers, mood or check-in selections, notes, audio progress, preferences, and other information you choose to enter.
- Usage information: general information about how you interact with DAZZL, such as features viewed or used, actions completed, session timing, app version, and a pseudonymous identifier.
- Device and technical information: device model, operating system, language, timezone, approximate country, IP address, installation or device identifiers, crash reports, and diagnostic information.
- Notification information: push token or device identifier, permission status, and limited app or device information needed to deliver notifications.
- Communications information: your name, email address, subscription or sign-up status, email delivery or engagement information, and messages or feedback you send us.
- Purchase information: product, subscription status, transaction identifier, purchase date, and store or platform. Apple and Google process full payment details under their own policies.
We receive information directly from you, automatically from the app or device, and from services you choose to use, such as an app store or sign-in provider.
2 How we use information
We use information:
- to provide, operate, maintain, and secure the Service;
- to create and manage accounts and synchronize information where available;
- to save progress, remember settings, and personalize content based on app interactions;
- to deliver reminders, notifications, study tips, product updates, and other communications you choose;
- to understand how features are used and improve DAZZL;
- to identify and fix crashes, errors, and technical problems;
- to provide support and respond to privacy requests;
- to manage purchases and access to paid features; and
- to comply with law and protect the rights, safety, and security of users, DAZZL, and others.
We do not use personal information to display third-party advertising. We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
3 Analytics and technical services
DAZZL uses service providers for analytics, crash reporting, communications, notifications, hosting, authentication, and other functions needed to operate the Service.
Analytics help us understand which features are used, personalize content, and help select relevant notifications and other developer communications based on app interactions. We configure analytics to collect interaction events rather than the private content students enter. We do not intentionally send the text of tasks, goals, notes, reminders, questionnaire responses, support messages, or other free-form student content to analytics providers. We do not currently use analytics to create screen recordings or keystroke replays.
Crash and diagnostic information may be collected automatically when an error occurs. We take steps to avoid placing student-created content in crash logs, diagnostic records, or notification tags.
4 How we share information
We share information only as described in this policy.
- Service providers: companies that help us operate DAZZL. They may use information only to provide services to us, subject to their contracts and applicable law.
- Services you choose: if you use Kakao, Naver, Apple, Google, or another service to sign in, make a purchase, or use another connected feature, that service processes information under its own terms and privacy policy.
- Legal and safety reasons: we may disclose information when required by valid legal process or when reasonably necessary to protect users, the public, DAZZL, or another person from harm, fraud, or security threats.
- Business transactions: information may be transferred as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of business assets, subject to appropriate protections and notice where required.
- At your direction: we may share information when you ask us to or give permission.
We do not sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, or use third-party advertising SDKs in the DAZZL app.
5 Students and age limits
DAZZL is designed for students, so we aim to use clear language and collect only what we need.
- In South Korea, you must be at least 14 to use DAZZL. DAZZL does not currently offer a parental-consent process for younger users.
- In the United States, you must be at least 13 to use DAZZL.
- A higher minimum age applies where local law requires it.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a younger child provided information to DAZZL, contact hello@dazzl.app. We will investigate and delete the information where required.
We do not sell information about minors or use it for targeted advertising.
6 Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- access information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information;
- delete information or your account;
- withdraw consent;
- object to or restrict certain processing;
- receive a portable copy of information where required;
- appeal a denied request where applicable; and
- complain to a privacy regulator.
You can make a request at https://dazzl.app/contact-us-en or hello@dazzl.app. We may need to verify your identity or authority. A parent or legal representative may make a request where permitted by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right.
You can unsubscribe from non-essential emails using the link in the message. You can disable notifications in DAZZL or your device settings.
7 How long we keep information
We keep information only as long as reasonably needed to provide the Service, fulfill the purposes described in this policy, comply with law, resolve disputes, and maintain security.
- Account information and synchronized student-created information are generally kept while the account is active. After a verified deletion request, we aim to remove the information from active systems within 30 days and from routine backups within 90 additional days, unless a longer period is required by law.
- Analytics information is kept according to DAZZL’s configured retention period and is generally retained for no more than 12 months.
- Crash and diagnostic information is generally retained for up to 90 days before deletion begins.
- Notification information is kept while notifications are active and then deleted or de-identified according to operational and provider schedules.
- Email and communications contact information is kept until you unsubscribe or request deletion. We may retain a limited suppression record so we can honor your choice not to receive further messages.
- Support and privacy-request records may be kept for up to three years after the matter closes. Transaction and legal records are kept for the period required by applicable law.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or de-identify it using reasonable technical and organizational measures.
8 Data security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. These may include encrypted connections, access controls, credential protections, logging, provider reviews, and limits on access.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Please protect your device and login information and contact us if you believe your account or information may be at risk. We will provide legally required notice if a data breach creates a risk that requires notification.
9 International processing and required provider details
A4J Global, LLC is based in the United States. Information may be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where DAZZL or its service providers operate. Privacy protections may differ between countries. We use contractual, technical, and organizational safeguards and provide notice or obtain consent where required.
The table below identifies principal service providers that receive information outside South Korea. Transfers occur through encrypted network connections when the relevant feature is used. This table provides the specific recipient information required for South Korean users while the rest of this policy describes these services by function.
| Recipient and contact | Country and purpose | Information transferred and method | Retention and choice |
|---|---|---|---|
| PostHog Inc.; privacy@posthog.com | United States; product analytics, content personalization, and developer communications informed by app interactions | App interaction events, such as mood taps, feature use, and selected options; pseudonymous identifier; and limited app and device information; transferred automatically through an encrypted connection when DAZZL is used | Up to 12 months; contact DAZZL where an opt-out right applies. Limiting analytics may reduce personalization or our ability to improve DAZZL |
| Google LLC through Firebase Crashlytics; firebase.google.com/support | United States and other Google service locations; crash reporting, reliability, and security | Crash, diagnostic, device, and installation information; transferred through an encrypted connection when a crash or diagnostic event occurs | Relevant information is generally retained for 90 days before deletion begins; limiting required diagnostics may make DAZZL less reliable or unavailable |
| OneSignal, Inc.; Privacy@OneSignal.com | United States and approved service locations; push notifications | Push or device identifier, notification permissions, and limited app and device information; transferred through an encrypted connection when notifications are enabled and the app connects | While needed to provide notifications and meet deletion or legal obligations; disable notifications to refuse, but push reminders will not work |
| MailerLite, Inc.; mailerlite.com/contact-us | United States and approved subprocessor locations; developer communications, including beta invitations, study tips, product updates, and requested email | Name, email address, subscription or sign-up status, and email delivery or engagement information; transferred through an encrypted connection when a form is submitted or email is used | Until unsubscribe or deletion, with a limited suppression record where needed; refuse by not signing up or by unsubscribing |
Service providers may use approved subprocessors. Apple, Google, Kakao, and Naver may also process information when you choose their store, payment, or sign-in services under their own privacy policies.
If a provider, processing country, data category, purpose, or retention practice materially changes, we will update the applicable disclosure and provide any notice or obtain any consent required by law.
10 Additional rights in South Korea
Users and legal representatives may request access, correction, deletion, suspension of processing, or withdrawal of consent as permitted by the Personal Information Protection Act. Contact us using Section 6. We will verify identity or authority and respond within the period required by law.
For additional help, contact the Personal Information Infringement Report Center at privacy.kisa.or.kr or 118; the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee at kopico.go.kr or 1833-6972; or the Personal Information Protection Commission at pipc.go.kr.
11 California privacy information
California residents may use the contact methods in Section 6 to request access to, correction of, or deletion of their personal information. If the California Consumer Privacy Act applies to DAZZL, California residents may exercise the additional rights provided by that law, including the rights to know, correct, delete, and receive personal information and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising a privacy right.
DAZZL does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We therefore do not currently provide a “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link.
DAZZL does not use student information to track users across unrelated websites or services for behavioral advertising. Our website does not currently respond to browser “Do Not Track” signals because there is no universally accepted response to those signals. If California law requires DAZZL to recognize an opt-out preference signal, such as Global Privacy Control, we will honor that signal as required.
12 Website technology
Our website may use cookies or similar technology needed to operate pages, remember preferences, prevent abuse, or understand site use. Where required, we ask permission before using non-essential analytics or marketing technology. Browser controls can limit cookies, although some functions may not work correctly.
13 Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our practices, providers, Service, or legal obligations change. We will post the updated policy with a new effective date. We will provide additional notice or obtain consent when required for a material change.
